Two-member IFC team visits Uttara EPZ

NILPHAMARI, Sep 27: A team consisting of two members of the International Finance Corporation visited Uttara Export Processing Zone on 23rd September. The team members discussed various aspects of the EPZ with the EPZ administration including its project director Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manager Commercial Operation Mehboob Ali and local entrepreneurs.
Source said the EPZ administration appraised the visiting team about the overall condition of the EPZ. Sources added the IFC team expressed satisfaction about the overall performance of the EPZ and its favourable location as well.
They were also informed about the urgency of gas supply in the EPZ and reopening of Saidpur airport which was closed some months earlier along with the establishment of Chilahati land port to create a corridor to export EPZ goods to India's seven sister states of the north eastern region. The team were appraised that if the mentioned facilities are provided the EPZ has a great prospect to flourish which will help directly the underdeveloped region.
