Two-member probe body on OMS rice scam
Tuesday, 19 April 2011
The government Monday formed a two-member body to investigate the reported scam on illegal sale of OMS rice in commercial market in the city, reports BSS.
The committee, which has already started functioning, will submit the report within three days, according to a Food Ministry handout.
The committee is headed by Director (Procurement) of the Department of Food Badrul Hasan, while Regional Food Controller of Dhaka Abdul Aziz Mollah is assisting him.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized a large quantity of rice earmarked for government's open market sale (OMS) programme in subsidized rates for middle and low income people from the city's Karwan Bazar Sunday.
