Two minor girls drown in ponds

LAKSHMIPUR, Aug 18 (BSS): Two minor girls drowned in two separate ponds in the upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased were Faria Akter, 4, hailed from Shaistanagar village in the upazila, and Rizu Akter, 2, an inhabitant at Mohadebpur village.
Faria's father Ibrahim said his daughter drowned in the pond close to their house at around 7 am. She was brought to Raipur Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared her dead.
Besides, mother of Rizu Nehar Begum said that her daughter drowned in the pond, which was very close to their house, around 10am while playing. Rizu was also brought to Raipur Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared her dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Raipur Thana Shipon Barua confirmed.
