CHITTAGONG, Aug 3 (UNB): The anti-corruption taskforce will soon file two more cases against detained Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury on charges of illegal possession of a generator of Chittagong City Corporation and unlawful construction of a 5-storey building.
Officials of the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) and the taskforce raided Chashma Hill residence of the mayor from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm Thursday and checked documents of his assets. They also froze the documents of 23 bank accounts following a court order.
An official wishing anonymity said they have also found the evidence of two bank accounts of mayor's son at a Swiss bank.
The official said the value of the building has been shown as Tk 7.3 million in the wealth statement of the mayor, but its real value would be Tk 40 million (4 crore) according to the estimate of the Public Works Department.
