Two more held over torturing woman in Khulna

KHULNA, July 17 (UNB): Police have arrested two more accused in a case over torturing a 35-year-old woman tying to a tree over a land dispute in Koyra upazila of Khulna.
The arrestees were Afsar Gazi, 40, and Akfar Hossain Gazi. With the arrest of the two, four accused have so far been arrested. Ibrahim Ali, inspector (Investigation) of Koyra police station, said they were arrested Saturday noon. "Efforts are on to arrest the other accused," he added.
Meanwhile, Maheshwaripur UP Chairman Shahanewaz Shikari held a press conference at the Union Parishad Saturday afternoon and claimed that the information about his involvement in the incident given by the victim's family in the media is untrue, fabricated and politically motivated.
