Friday, 4 December 2009

CHUADANGA, Dec 2 (UNB): Two outlaws, including a divisional chief, were killed in a 'shootout' with law-enforcers at Kedarganjpara in the district town Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Jamal alias Robi (50), Khulna divisional chief of Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-ML) and Sunnat Ali (35).
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police raided a mango orchard behind Chuadanga Women's College in the area at about 1.00am when a gang of outlaws was holding a clandestine meeting.
Sensing the presence of the law-enforcers, the outlaws attacked the RAB's vehicle and opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back.
"After the gunfight, the bullet-hit bodies of Jamal and Sunnat were found lying on the ground," said a spot account of the nighttime shootout.
