Two pirates held with firearms in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Mar 13 (UNB): Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard and Forest Department officials in a joint drive arrested two pirates along with two pipe-guns and five rounds of bullet from Boarsing area near the Mahmuda River in Shyamnagar upazila on Wednesday night.
The arrestees were identified as Abdullah Al Mamun,28, son of Akbar Ali, and Babu,33, son of Omar Ali, both residents of Kalinchi village in the upazila.
Sagir Miah, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, said a gang of pirates attacked some fishermen and tried to kidnap them at about 10:30 pm in the area.
Four fishermen received injuries during the attack.
On information, a team comprising members of the Coast Guard and Forest Department officials rescued the fishermen and arrested two pirates while their associates fled the scene.
