TANGAIL, Apr 22 (bdnews24.com): Two police sub-inspectors (SIs) have been detained in a case filed over the death of another police SI's son.
SI Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain and his colleague Mohammad Shahjahan were held from Tangail Model Police Station Friday.
Later, they were brought to the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court that ordered authorities to send them to jail.
Moniruzzaman Rubel (28), owner of a drugstore and son of SI Dulal Hossain, died Thursday reportedly after torture by the two detainees.
His brother, Mohammad Iqbal Hossain Rasel, filed a case with the police station around 3.00 pm Friday.
In the case details, the plaintiff said Rubel was picked up by SI Mosharraf from Adan Medical Pharmacy in the district town around 10:30am Wednesday. A customer, Shariful Islam (23), was also held at that time.
Though Sharif was released around 10.00 pm the same day, Rubel was beaten severely, the plaintiff alleged.
When Rasel went to the General Hospital Thursday morning, doctors said police brought the dead body of Rubel and then took it to the morgue.
Rasel said he saw marks of wounds on his brother's body at the morgue.
Sharif, Rubel's uncle Asaduzzaman Moni Arju, neighbour Mohammad Abdus Samad and General Hospital doctor Mujahidul Islam were made witnesses to the case.
