Two ships carrying some 48,750 tonnes of rice and parboiled rice have arrived at Chattogram Port.
Of the two consignments of rice, 26,250 tonnes of rice came from Pakistan while 22,500 tonnes of parboiled rice were imported from India, reports BSS.
Gyanpriyo Bidurshi Chakma, an official of the movement and storage wing of the Directorate General of Food, said these two rice-carrying ships have anchored at Silo Jetty at Chattogram Port and at another jetty adjacent to Karnafuli Fertiliser Company (KAFCO).
Of the two, the Pakistan-flagged ship 'MV Marium' made its berth at Silo Jetty and the India-flagged ship 'MV Tanais Dream' made its berth at a jetty adjacent to KAFCO.

Gyanpriyo Chakma said physical analysis of the collected rice from Pakistan has already been completed and the unloading operation has already begun.
On the other hand, the sample of rice that came from India has been collected.
