Two RMP cops closed for beating journo

RAJSHAHI, Jan 9 (BSS): Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has closed its two cops including an SI on charge of assaulting an on-duty journalist on Rajshahi College campus today.
The cops are: SI SM Jahangir Hossain and Constable Bulbul, who were primarily blamed for the charge, said Md Shamsuddin, Commissioner of RMP, while talking to BSS over phone.
Quoting eyewitnesses Nur Hossain Khandaker, Officer-in-Charge of Boalia Police Station, said a police party was chasing a procession at that time.
At one stage, the policemen beat Sohrab Hossain, Staff Reporter of Jamuna Television, indiscriminately while he was performing his professional duties.
Terming the beating up incident as shameful, the OC expressed his apology over the issue.
However, the local journalists lodged complain with RMP commissioner at his office and he instantly ordered for closing the two policemen for their involvement in the assault.
