Two sentenced to death for killing RU teacher

RAJSHAHI, Jan 28: A court in Rajshahi has ordered two of the accused in Professor Dr. Younus murder case to walk the gallows and a fine of taka five thousand each.
The same court also acquitted unconditionally six of the accused of the same case in a judgement delivered here today. Monjurul Basit, Judge of the Speedy Trial Tribunal of Rajshahi, delivered the judgement in a crowded courtroom.
The two accused who were sentenced to death are: Shahidullah alias Mahboob son of Haji Abdus Satter of Sarakdanga village under Naogaon district and Shafiullah alias Tarek son of Abdur Rahman master of Satkira thana of the same district.
The convicts, however, will be able to appeal to the High Court division of the Supreme court within next 30 days. The verdict of the case was delivered after cross examining 26 witnesses in 24 working days.
