Two separate panels for FBCCI election announced

Two separate panels for the upcoming FBCCI biennial election for the term of 2010-11 and 2011-12 were announced Sunday, pledging more democratic practices in the country's apex chamber body.
Delwar Hossain will lead Ganotantrik Babosayee Oikya Parishad (Democratic Businessmen United Council), while Ganotantrik Panel will be led by Dewan Sultan Ahmed during the election of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), due on June 19.
At a press conference in the city, Delwar Hossain introduced his panel, pointing to the objective of the panel of establishing democratic practices for the business community.
Dewan Sultan Ahmed -- at a separate panel introduction meeting -- said he wants to amend the Trade Organisations Act-1961 to ensure better democratic practices in the country's apex chamber body.
Ganotantrik Babosayee Oikya Parishad announced eight candidates, all of them hailing from the Association group.
On the other hand, Dewan Sultan Ahmed, a representative of Laxmipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announced six candidates -- all from the Chamber group.
The director candidates of Ganotantrik Babosayee Oikya Parishad are Delwar Hossain from Bangladesh Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Merchants Association, Syed Abu Bakar Siddique from Bangladesh Rin Grohita Sarak Paribahan Samity, Gias Uddin Chowdhury from Bangladesh Agricultural Machinery Merchants Association, Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan from Bangladesh Auto Biscuits and Bread Manufacturers Association, Anisur Rahman Badsha from Bangladesh Imitation Jewellery Manufacturers, Exporters and Merchants Association, Mizanur Rahman from Bangladesh Steel Mills Owners Association, Dildar Ahmed Salim from Bangladesh Jewellers Samity and Abu Naser from Courier Services Association of Bangladesh.
Earlier on June 5, AK Azad and Jasim Uddin announced a joint panel comprising 28 candidates from Association and Chamber groups for the election.
