Two siblings killed by wild elephants

SHERPUR, June 23 (UNB): Two tribal siblings were killed by wild elephants at frontier village Panihata in Nalitabari Upazila early Saturday.
Local people said a herd of about 35 elephants, coming down from an Indian hill, attacked the house of Illias Shangma at about 2.30 am when the family members were asleep.
The elephants damaged the house and trampled Illias's two sons Faruk Shangma and Bipul Shangma to death.
The herd also damaged three other adjacent houses and uprooted a number of trees creating panic in the area.
