Two unnatural deaths in city

A middle-aged man jumped to death from the rooftop of a five-storied residential hotel in the city's Ananda Bazaar area Saturday during a police raid there, witnesses said.
The deceased - identified as Sabuj (45) - was a boarder of Bangaraaj Hotel. Witnesses said the incident occurred at around 2:00pm when a team of Detective Branch (DB) police raided the hotel on information that various anti-social activities have been going on there.
Hearing the news of the police raid, Sabuj jumped from the hotel top and fell on the rooftop of a nearby three-storied building. Residents of the three-storied building rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where duty doctors declared him dead.
Meanwhile, a college girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her Madartek residence in Shabujbagh area Friday night.
Shabujbagh police recovered the body of Sania Sultana Prova (18), daughter of Rafiqul Islam and an HSC second year student of Viqarunnisa Noon College, at about 9:00pm after the family members contacted the law-enforcers.
