Two women killed over dowry

JAMALPUR, Jan 3 (UNB): A housewife was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband for dowry at Dhanua village in Bakshiganj upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Khuku Moni, 28, mother of three children.
Police said Moni, daughter of late Habibur Rahman of Bhatkhawa village in Dewanganj upazila.was married off with Nur Alam, 40, of Dhanua over a decade ago. Nur Alam used to torture her for dowry since the marriage.
On the fateful night the brute husband engaged in an altercation withm Moni over the issue and at one stage stabbed her leaving her dead on the spot.
Villagers caught Nur Alam and handed him over to police. Mojammel Haque, elder brother of the victim filed a murder case.
Another report adds: A woman, mother of three children, was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband at Kosba village in sadar upazila on Tuesday.
Victim`s mother Nur Jahan Begum said Nesar Ahmed allegedly used to physically tortured his wife Selina Kater, 35, for dowry in the last several years.
The brute husband beat her over the issue and at one stage strangled her to death at his house in the morning.
