Two years' RI to 8 Jama'at leaders

SHERPUR, Oct 3 (UNB): Eight Jama'at leaders of Sherpur district were Sunday convicted under the Speedy Trial Act and sentenced to two years' rigorous imprisonment (RI) for staging militant demonstration and threatening peace in the town on June 30.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Nurul Alam Md Dipu handed down the verdict to the leaders standing on the dock.
They included district Jama'at ameer Dr Shahadat Hossain, Nalitabari Upazila ameer Abdul Quader and poura secretary Ruhul Amin. Fifteen others were acquitted.
