ABU DHABI, Sept 26 (Xinhua): A study showed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has the highest share of female internet users in member nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Arabian Business journal reported yesterday.
More than 40 percent of the UAE's internet users are female, the largest proportion in GCC countries and the second-highest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, according to a study conducted by Effective Measure, an on-line audience measurement firm.
The study showed that female internet users have higher levels of education than male internet users, with 25 percent of female users having a graduate or higher degree, against only 20 percent of males.
Female internet users are much more likely than males to be decision-makers in the household for consumer goods, travel and accommodation, according to the study.
Some 67 percent of female internet users access the internet from home and tend to be more conservative with their money on- line than men, the study said.
Arabian Business said the study polled 68,721 people on-line over the past three months throughout the MENA region.
