ABU DHABI, June 6 (Xinhua): The volume of bilateral trade between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Japan reached 37.64 billion US dollars in 2006, representing a growth of 28.9 per cent over the previous year, Emirates News Agency reported yesterday.
Fossil fuels, including crude oil and petroleum gas, as well as machinery and equipment dominated the bilateral trade between the two countries, with oil and gas accounting for 83 per cent of the total trade, the report said.
With its exports to Japan growing 24.74 per cent to 31.6 billion dollars, the oil-rich UAE was Japan's fourth largest supplier of goods in 2006 after China, the United States and Saudi Arabia.
Fossil fuels constituted 98.9 per cent of the UAE's total exports to Japan, which received 26.1 per cent of its total crude oil imports in 2006 from the UAE.
