The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has showed interest in recruiting more manpower from Bangladesh, reports BSS.
UAE Ambassador in Bangladesh Kalfan Battal Ali Al-Mansouri expressed this eagerness Thursday when he paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Jamuna in the city.
Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad told journalists that during the meeting they discussed matters related to mutual interests.
The Prime Minister said her government has taken initiatives to export skilled manpower, including doctors, engineers, nurses and other professionals, besides unskilled workers.
Steps have been taken to provide necessary training on language and laws for jobseekers abroad, she added.
Referring to the government's plan to set up Expatriate Bank for the jobseekers, Sheikh Hasina said they would be able to go abroad taking loan from the bank and adjust it, and send remittances through the bank.
She said her government would extend all cooperation to the envoy in discharging his duties.
The ambassador congratulated Sheikh Hasina for her landslide victory in the last general elections and assuming the office of the Prime Minister.
He hoped that the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries would be strengthened further during the tenure of the present government.
Kalfan Battal emphasised the need for exchange of tours at different levels between the two countries.
Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office Mollah Wahiduzzaman, former diplomat Ziauddin and special assistant to the Prime Minister Abdus Sobhan Golap were also present on the occasion.
