UCB reports strong growth in green, sustainable finance

United Commercial Bank (UCB) reported a significant rise in its green and sustainable financing portfolio in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting the bank’s growing focus on climate-resilient banking and ESG-driven investments.
According to UCB’s Sustainability Finance Dashboard, green finance disbursement stood at Tk 718 million during the January-March quarter, accounting for 25.02 per cent of total term loan disbursement, well above the regulatory target threshold of 5 per cent, said a press release.
The bank’s outstanding green finance portfolio reached Tk 26.37 billion during the period, representing 5.04 per cent of net loans and advances, slightly exceeding the regulatory benchmark of 5 per cent.
UCB also posted strong performance in sustainable finance activities. Sustainable finance disbursement amounted to Tk 23.50 billion in the first quarter, equivalent to 32.38 per cent of total disbursement during the period.
The bank said the performance reflects its institutional commitment to environmentally responsible financing and sustainable economic growth amid increasing emphasis on ESG compliance in the banking sector.
