UGC allocates Tk 2.40b for research at 35 varsities

University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh has allocated Tk 2.40 billion for research work of 35 universities, reports BSS.
Under the Academic Innovation Fund (AIF) Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), UGC is allocating the money for 124 sub-projects for intensifying research work, a press release of UGC said Saturday.
This was revealed at the third round AIF sub-project contract signing ceremony in the UGC auditorium in the city on the day.
UGC Chairman Prof Dr A K Azad Chowdhury, its members - Prof Dr Atful Hye Shibly, Prof Dr Mohammad Mohabbat Khan, Prof Dr Abul Hashem, vice-chancellors from different universities and officials, among others, were present at the function with UGC member Prof Dr M Muhibur Rahman in the chair.
On the occasion, Prof AK Azad Chowdhury said Bangladesh has achieved a good progress in terms of expansion of education. "Now we have to give attention to improving quality education," he said, adding research work at university level should be expanded to enhance the overall standard of education.
