UK, Australian envoys visit remote char areas

British High Commissioner and Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Gibson and Greg Wilcock respectively visited remote chars in Tangail and Bogra to see for themselves vulnerable livelihood of char people, reports BSS.
They concluded their two-day visit to areas under the Chars Livelihoods Programme (CLP) on Tuesday.
The Chars Livelihoods Programme (CLP) aims to improve the livelihoods, incomes and food security of 1 million ultra poor and vulnerable women, children and men on island chars in north western Bangladesh.
The CLP is implementing by LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry with joint funding of UKaid through the Department for International Development (DFID) and Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
