UK co to invest Tk 40m in Uttara EPZ

NILPHAMARI, June 01: Messrs Oasis Transformation Co. Ltd. will invest Tk 40 million (4.0 crore) in the Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Nilphamari district.

Sources said the British company will set up an agro-processing plant to use agro-products of the region.

The company has signed a lease contract with Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) in Dhaka in this connection. An executive member (investment) of BEPZA and the managing director of Oasis Transformation signed the lease contract on behalf of their respective sides.

BEPZA executive chairman Jamil Ahmed Khan and other officers of BEPZA and the British company were also present on the occasion.

This is the first investment contract by any local or foreign company in the Uttara EPZ after Jamil Ahmed Khan takes over as chairman of BEPZA.
