UK co to set up Tk 400m bamboo furniture industry at Uttara EPZ

NILPHAMARI, Dec 25: UK-based company Oasis International Transformation Ltd has planned to initiate high breed and improved quality bamboo cultivation in the northern region of the country.
The company also accomplished the formalities with Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) to set up a factory investing Tk 400 million at Uttara EPZ in Nilphamari to produce bamboo made furniture and small products to be used at home and that to be exported to the European countries.
James Khan, one official of the company, said, "We are preparing to start bamboo nursery in the region to cultivate high breed and improved quality bamboo to be cultivated by the growers of the region."
This new variety of bamboo gets maturity for use within three years of its plantation, he added.
