British companies including perfume producers, education, health service providers and shipbuilders have expressed keen interest to do business in Bangladesh.
A delegation of the UK companies has evinced the interest at a press conference after coming to Dhaka Saturday on a four-day visit to explore business opportunities and strengthen trade and investment ties between the two countries.
The UK Trade and Investment has arranged the visit, in cooperation with the British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce.
At the press conference, Shahagir Bakth Faruk, a British investor, expressed the willingness of the companies to showcase UK products.
"We came here last year with a small delegation, but this year the team comprises British investors, British-born Bangladeshis and Bangladeshi investors, who have migrated to the UK," he said.
Another investor Khurshi Alam said his company is doing business in India, Thailand and Malaysia and they want to venture into Bangladesh.
"We are engaged in the health and education sector and we are also looking for strategic partners in those areas to do business," he said.
AM Rafiqul Islam of Maritimus said his company invested in a shipyard in Narayanganj.
"The shipyard is going to start operation next year," he expressed his hope.
