UK director for Asia due today on 3-day visit

UK Foreign and Comm-onwealth Office Director for Asia John Dennis will arrive in the city today (Tuesday) on a three-day visit to Bangladesh, reports UNB.
During this first official visit to Bangladesh, Dennis is expected to emphasise the importance of credible elections in the country that can sustain democracy in the longer term.
He will discuss progress on electoral reform and the voter list, and the UK's support for Bangladesh's commitment to a roadmap for elections before the end of 2008.
He will meet the President, the Chief Adviser, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief Election Commissioner, the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Foreign Secretary.
Dennis will also visit Sylhet division for holding meetings with the members of the British-Bangladeshi diaspora community.
The visit will conclude with a press conference, said a press release.
