UK increases 'marriage visa' age
Thursday, 20 November 2008
The age at which an individual can apply for a marriage visa for the UK will increase from 18 to 21 years from November 27 to protect vulnerable young people and combat forced marriage. Both parties to a marriage will have to be at least 21 before a marriage visa can be issued. This change, applied globally, is part of the UK government's action to combat forced marriage, a release of the British High Commission in Dhaka said Wednesday. — UNB
