UK parliamentary team of home affairs body due today

Monday, 6 October 2008

A parliamentary team of the home affairs committee of United Kingdom (UK) will visit Bangladesh from October 6 to 9, reports BSS.
The committee is independent from the UK Government and is a cross-party body of MPs responsible for examining the policy, expenditure and administration of the UK's Home Office and its associated public bodies.
During their stay in Bangladesh, the committee members will visit Dhaka and Sylhet to examine the impact of the UK Government's worldwide plans for a new Points-Based migration system and the introduction of new sponsorship arrangements, a British High Commission press release said.
The delegation will consult key stakeholders and users of the visa system and will also call on the advisers for foreign and home affairs.
"It is vital that the Government effectively manages migration to and from the UK to meet the demands of our economy and manage pressures on our labour market”.
