UK stocks advance, Metal Producers, Kingfisher shares rise

LONDON, Sept. 8 (Bloomberg): U.K. stocks climbed, led by mining companies as base metals gained and gold futures rallied above $1,000 an ounce.
BHP Billiton Ltd. and Randgold Resources Ltd. both rose more than 1 per cent, sending a measure of metal producers higher for a fourth day. Shares of Kingfisher Plc climbed 3.4 per cent after the retailer said it expects first-half earnings to increase as much as 36 per cent.
The FTSE 100 Index gained 32.73, or 0.7 per cent, to 4,965.91 at 8:47 a.m. in London, extending the measure's advance from a six- year low on March 3 to 41 per cent. The FTSE All- Share Index added 0.6 per cent today, while Ireland's ISEQ Index rose 1.6 per cent.
