ULSC teacher sentenced for Eve teasing

A mobile court Friday sentenced a college teacher to one-year imprisonment without labour for harassing a female admission seeker during 'Ga' unit admission test of Dhaka University.
The accused teacher was identified as Saiful Islam, a teacher of Physical Training Department of University Laboratory School and College (ULSC) was sent to Dhaka Central Jail as he was found guilty by a mobile court.
The sentence was given after a hearing in college premises on basis of written complaints made by the victim student with Shahabagh police station and DU proctor.
Executive Magistrate of the mobile court Al Amin gave the sentence.
The admission aspirant claimed that, Saiful, also an invigilator at the admission test, harassed her with both abusive verbal and ugly physical languages while she was sitting for the admission test at room no 214 of that college.
"Giving a card with his name and cell number, he asked me several times for giving my one," she quoted it in her complaints.
Farjana Fayes, an invigilator of room no 214, also mentioned that the complaint may be right as Saiful was all the time seen close to the girl in the exam hall.
Welcoming the verdict Selina Banu, the acting principal of the college, told the reporters that there are almost 10 allegations against Saiful and two show cause notices were served on him."
