Umar Faruq conferred PhD

Abu Umar Faruq Ahmad, an internationally recognised researcher and Shari'ah scholar in Islamic banking and finance and currently a senior lecturer at Sule College at Sydney in Australia, has been awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with 'A' (High Distinction) by the University of Western Sydney (UWS) for his dissertation entitled "Law and Practice of Modern Islamic Finance in Australia".
The degree has been conferred to him in the Spring Convocation of UWS held in this regard on 24th September 2008.
Dr Ahmad has published about 30 research articles on Islamic banking and finance in international academic refereed journals and conference proceedings, said a press release.
