UN chief calls for greater action on climate

Sunday, 4 May 2014

The United Nations (UN) secretary-general is calling on world policymakers to show greater effort in addressing the threat of climate change as negotiators attempt to forge a new global warming pact next year. Ban Ki-moon told delegates at a gathering in Abu Dhabi on Sunday that efforts to improve global prosperity and security could be undone without urgent action on the environment. Ban was in the United Arab Emirates capital to mark the start of a conference meant to lay the groundwork for a climate summit he has called for world leaders in September, according to a news agency.
