UN reps, UAE envoy call on Speaker

Representatives of four organisations of the United Nations (UN) working on Bangladesh nutrition situation called on Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury at her parliament office in the city Monday, reports BSS.
The representatives are Christa Rader of the World Food Programme (WFP), Pascal Villeneuve of UNICEF, Mike Robson of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and Dr Mamadou Hady Diallo of World Health Organisation (WHO).
Welcoming the representatives, the Speaker said Bangladesh has made a significant progress in meeting demand for nutrition. The rate of mother and child mortality came down significantly, she said, adding that it is possible to aware grassroots level people about nutrition through MPs.
UNB adds: Earlier, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador in Dhaka Dr Saeed Bin Hajar Al-Shehi met the Speaker.
