UN, WB, UNHCR chiefs visit Rohingya camps today

COX'S BAZAR, July 01: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will visit Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar tomorrow (Monday).
World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, UNHCR chief Filippo Grandi and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Peter Maurer will accompany the UN chief, district administration sources said.
When contacted, Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Mohammad Abul Kalam told this correspondent that the high-profile world leaders will reach Cox's Bazar airport by a special aircraft at 8:00 am on a day-long visit from Dhaka.
After reaching there, they will go to hotel Sayman Resort at Kalatoli on Cox's Bazar beach.
The UN, WB, UNHCR and ICRC chiefs will visit Kutupalong transit refugee camp at 10:00 am. At 11:00 am they will go to Lambasia Rohingya refugee camp of Ukhia upazila.
At 12:00 pm they will pay a visit to Kutupalong mega camp. After camp visit the world leaders will speak at a press conference around 12:30 pm at D-5 camp of Kutupalong. They will leave Cox's Bazar for Dhaka at 3:00 pm of Monday.
WB President Kim along with the UN chief will assess the severity of the Rohingya crisis and discuss what more can be done, sources said.
