Unabated catching of fish, fries depleting stock in bay

CHITTAGONG, July 26: Fish resources in the Bay of Bengal has been declining alarmingly due to unabated catching of fishes and fish fries.
If excessive catching of fishes is not resisted, scientists apprehend there would be acute crisis of fishes in the Bay by the next five years.
According to the Marine Fisheries Survey Management Unit, as the stock of fish resources in the Bay of Bengal was not unlimited, excess fishing, might lead to disastrous consequences.
Scientists of the Marine Fisheries Survey Management Unit called for ensuring scientific management for proper preservation and production of the fishery resources in the Bay of Bengal.
Preservation and Judicious fishing of the Bay resources could be ensured through scientific management, otherwise the country might face severe crisis in future, sources said.
