Unbecoming behaviour of the opposition
Tuesday, 27 January 2015
I was shocked to watch on television that the Prime Minster was not treated well when she went to Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office to pay her condolences at the death of Arafat Rahman in Malaysia. It was really discourteous of the opposition leaders who were present there at that time in BNP's Gulshan office. I think Khaleda Zia should meet the PM and show her discontent about how the PM was treated when she went to her office to pay her condolences. I would like to thank the Prime Minster for her noble gesture and I hope we will see more of such compassion and sympathetic gesture in our political area. I was very hopeful when I heard that the PM was about to visit the grief stricken mother Khaleda Zia. But my hopes were soon dashed when I watched the developments on TV screen. We must remember, no body is immortal and every one of us will have to leave this world sooner or later. We must, therefore, conduct ourselves in a manner that does not hurt or insult others. We must be humble and courteous under all circumstances. I am sure, we shall soon see a positive move from the opposition leader in this respect. The country expects modesty and empathy from our leaders regardless of their political affiliations in all their words and deeds.
