Understanding Zakat

Islam highly encourages Zakat. It is a mandatory charity for solvent Muslims. According to Islamic law, you have to give 2.5 per cent of your excess property or wealth.as Zaka. It is necessary for the stability of economy that all Muslims must pay Zakat. A certain economic balance can be achieved in society if everyone starts paying Zakat.
Zakat is the third main pillar of Islamic belief. Its timely payment can help end the problems of our society. In our country, the common practice of charity takes place during two Eids by handing out the poor some clothes and foods. And those provide opportunities for photo session. The core idea behind Zakat is to share the wealth of the rich with the poor without any show off. It should be given only to a family so that it may become self-dependent next year and thus give Zakat to others. We hope everyone would understand Zakat's core concept.
