With the theme of 'Say no to violence against women: Be a real man', UNFPA and BAMBA will jointly host an open air concert at the Banani Army Stadium in the city on December 3 to motivate youths against violence and Eve teasing, reports UNB.
Twelve leading bands of the country -- Nagarbaul, LRB, Miles, Souls, Warfaze, Prometheus, Aurthohin, Cryptic Fate, ArtCell, Metal Maze, Power Surge and Lalon -- will take part in the concert.
Bangladesh Musical Bands Association (BAMBA) and UNFPA jointly arranged a press conference at a city hotel Sunday to brief the media about the upcoming concert.
UNFPA Bangladesh Representative Arthur Erken, BAMBA president Hamin Ahmed, Tasir Ahmed of the Ministry of Information and LRB band leader Ayub Bachchu addressed the press conference.
Arthur Erken said, "A real man does not throw acid on women. We want to convey this message to all and want to get the youths' involvement in this movement against violence."
He hoped that the concert would be a big one and pledged to repeat and arrange such concerts in other parts of the country in future.
Hamin Ahmed said all possible measures would be taken to ensure foolproof security in and around the venue during the concert.
The gate of the Army Stadium will be opened at 1:30 pm while the concert will start at 2:30 pm.
Ticket for the concert has been fixed at Tk 150 per person.
