UNIDO aid to set up livestock inspection laboratories sought

Cooperation of United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has been sought to set up world standard livestock inspection laboratories in the country.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu made the call on Wednesday when he called on Director General of UNIDO Li Yong in Vienna, reports BSS.
Highlighting the financial and technical assistances of UNIDO in the field of industrial development in Bangladesh, the minister lauded the UNIDO's assistances in modernising the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).
During the meeting, the industries minister said Bangladesh has attached priority to industrialisation for achieving economic growth.
The minister described the Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID) taken by UNIDO as time-befitting initiative in the context of present world.
The UNIDO Director General praised the efforts made by Bangladesh for improving standard of industrial sector.
He said Bangladesh has done well in improving quality of products as well as product diversification.
