Uninterrupted supply of power, water to puja mandaps demanded

The leaders of Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee urged the government for an uninterrupted electricity and water supply to the Puja mondops during the five-day Durga Puja, the greatest religious festival of the Hindu community, beginning today, reports BSS.
Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee General Secretary Joyanta Kumar Dev placed the demands while addressing a press briefing in the conference lounge of Dhakeshwari National Temple in the city Tuesday.
Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee President Joyanta Sen Depu was present during the press briefing.
The leaders also called upon the government to illuminate the important government buildings during the Puja.
The press briefing was also attended, among others, by chief adviser of Bangladesh Puja Udjpan Parishad (BPUP) CR Dutta, president of BPUP CR Sarker, Vice- presidents Swapan Kumar Saha and Subrata Chowdhury, General Secretary Biresh Chandra Saha, Joint Secretaries Tapash Paul and Nirmal Chatterjee and committee leaders Manisha Dutta, journalist Basudev Dhar, Advocate Satyendra Nath Bhakta and Monjusri Dhar.
The leaders also called upon the government to keep fire service units ready at the immersion site at Sadarghat to meet any emergency.
