United Airways carries 40pcdomestic passengers yearly

United Airways, a leading domestic airline, carry more than 40 per cent of total domestic passengers on average in a year, officials said. "We carried more than 40 per cent of our domestic passengers round the year while Biman Bangladesh Airlines, GMG Airlines and Best Airways together carried other 60 per cent domestic passengers," Marketing Manager of the United Airways (BD) Limited, Kamrul Islam said. As many as 1.0 million domestic passengers travel in these four domestic airlines round the year, he said. Mr Islam said, "We want to increase our flights and this is the right time to procure desired aircraft. We are in the process of buying one Airbus 8 ER 72 by the end of June this year". On July 10, 2007 the leading private airline in Bangladesh started its operation with its maiden flight from Dhaka to Sylhet. The sponsors of this airline are non-resident Bangladeshis (NRB) particularly from Sylhet. Starting with one Dash 8-100 aircraft, the airline now owns two of these aircraft and two Jet MD-83 aircraft through outright purchase and operates flights from Dhaka to London, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu, Kolkata, Jeddah, Bangkok, Chittagong, Sylhet, Jessore and Cox's Bazar, Mr Islam said. According to sources in the United Airways, they are also planning to operate flights to and from Riyadh and Abu Dhabi shortly and doing necessary feasibility study for operating flights to Singapore, Male, Colombo and Jakarta. Mr Islam said, since its inception, United Airways received a positive market response and presently holds a good share of domestic and international markets. In a span of just three years since inception, United Airways has established its brand reputation for its employment of latest technologies that meet international safety standards. It offers friendly customer service, disciplined flight schedules and reliable and safe aircraft. The carrier plans to start flights to other Gulf destinations. The UK and the Gulf state are the most important markets for Bangladeshi airlines as one in two people who fly abroad goes to the six Gulf countries and the UK, he added.
