United Airways completes eight years in skies

United Airways, a private airlines in Bangladesh, will celebrate eight years of its service today (Friday).
On 10th July in 2007 it started its operation with its maiden flight from Dhaka to Sylhet.
United Airways is the first public limited company listed with stock exchanges in the aviation sector of the country.
In the last eight years, the company operated 55,000 flights and carried 2.40 million passengers and 5500 tonnes of cargo to various destinations.
The airlines has created over 1,000 jobs.
On international routes, it flies from Dhaka to Kuala Lumpur, Kolkata, Muscat, Doha, Jeddah, Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok and Kathmandu and also from Chittagong to Kolkata.
United Airways holds the major market share in the domestic private sector. Presently it connects all the domestic airports with the capital by providing regular flights.
United Airways has a total of 11 aircraft in its inventory. The management has decided to procure three more DASH 8-Q400 aircraft aiming to enhance its domestic and regional flight network.
The aircraft, each of single-class seat configurations with 76 seats, will arrive in Dhaka in late October and launch commercial services by November.
United Airways has planned to operate flights to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Riyadh, Dammam and Yangon.
Marking its eighth anniversary, founder Chairman and Managing Director of United Airways Captain Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury reiterated: "We shall make all endeavours not only to retain our present market share but to expand our operation in the international arena."
