United Airways resumes operations Saturday

Friday, 26 September 2014

United Airways (BD) Ltd will resume its operations on Saturday, after a suspension for two days following an internal conflict.
The decision of flight resumption came at a closed-door meeting between newly constituted Board of Directors and the immediate past chairman at the latter’s residence in the evening, according to a news agency.
Earlier Wednesday evening, officials of the private airliner announced that the operations of all kinds of flight -- domestic and international – would remain suspended from Thursday morning for an indefinite period.
The new board requested Tasbirul Ahmed Chowdhury, who resigned as the chairman, to retake the charges and he agreed to the request, said Quamrul Islam, deputy general manager (PR) of the airline.
He said the flight operations on international routes will resume upon receiving clearance from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh and fulfilling global distribution system requirements.
After the resignation of Tasbirul, the board Monday appointed Mohammad Mahatabur Rahman chairman and Shahinoor Alam acting managing director.
Tasbirul served the company as chairman and managing director since its inception in 2007.
However, both Mahatabur and Shahinoor abstained from joining for two days that forced the suspension of flight operation on the domestic and international routes.
