United for RUCSU announces partial panel without VP, GS
RU CORRESPONDENT | Monday, 15 September 2025
In a break from tradition, the alliance United for RUCSU has announced a partial panel to contest the upcoming Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RUCSU) elections, excluding the key posts of vice-president (VP) and general secretary (GS).
The announcement came at a press conference held on Sunday, where the candidates unveiled their panel.
Although the panel did not include nominees for VP and GS, several candidates were introduced for other posts. They are: Rezwan Karim, assistant secretary for Cultural Affairs (2020-21 session); Hasna Hena Borsha, assistant secretary for Women's Affairs (2020-21 session); Iftikhar Alam Dhrubo, secretary for Information and Research (2020-21 session); Md Nabil Bin Zakir, assistant secretary for Information and Research (2020-21 session); Shahriar Morshed Khan, secretary for Media and Publications (2020-21 session); Talha Hossain, assistant secretary for Media and Publications (2022-23 session); Bijoy Krishna Das, secretary for Science and Technology (2020-21 session); Md Rasel Rana, assistant secretary for Science and Technology (2020-21 session); and Ashiqur Rahman, assistant secretary for Environment and Social Welfare (2020-21 session).
Speaking at the press conference, Shahriar Morshed Khan, the nominee for Media and Publications Secretary, said their panel is deliberately different from the conventional ones. "Our panel is not about the usual hierarchy. We did not nominate anyone for VP, GS, or AGS because we found no one suitable for those positions within our alliance. If students elect us, we will raise their demands directly," he said.
Rejecting the idea of grandiose manifestos, he added, "We will not give false promises that are never fulfilled."
