United Insurance's premium income up in '09

The 18th Branch Managers' Conference of the United Insurance Company Limited was held recently at the Head Office of the company in the city.
Inaugurating the Conference, the Chairman observed that in spite of some constraints UIC's premium income was higher in 2009 as against 2008. Underwriting profit was Tk. 12.5 million during the year. He expressed optimism that with concerted efforts by all officers including positive guidance by the senior staff, the company would be able to achieve the business target of 2010 also.
The chairman emphasized that the responsibility of officials got enhanced due to increase of paid-up capital to Tk 300 million after the 25th annual general meeting.
The chairman was pleased to inform that in terms of net profit earned and increase of reserve fund for exceptional losses our position stood quite satisfactory. He expressed satisfaction for quick disposal of intimated claims.
Because of the high claim paying ability and good governance, the company had been awarded "AA-" rating by a reputed Rating Agency.
He advised the officials to maintain the quality of underwriting to uphold the image of the company in the market.
It was attended by all the Branch In-charges and other senior executives of the company. The day-long conference was inaugurated by M. Moyeedul Islam, Chairman of the Company and presided over by the Managing Director, Mr. Syed Shahriyar Ahsan.
