United Power tops gainers' chart on prime bourse

The company's record date today

United Power Generation and Distribution Company (UPGDC) topped the gainers' chart with a value of Tk 401.7 million on Sunday. The company observed investors' increased participation ahead of its record date today (Monday).
On Sunday, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) featured a turnover value of Tk 4.85 billion. Top 10 companies grabbed 34.2 per cent of the total market turnover.
The UPGDC solely captured 8.3 per cent of the DSE's turnover value on Sunday. The company's market price rose 9.53 per cent in previous seven sessions in a row. On Sunday, the company's share trading closed at Tk 194.10 with a loss of 0.15 per cent.
The UPGDC reported EPS of Tk 3.04 for January-March, 2017 as against Tk 2.53 for January-March, 2016.
IFAD Autos featured a turnover of Tk 189.5 million and grabbed 3.9 per cent of the market turnover on Sunday. The company's share price rose 2.31 per cent to close at Tk 132.70 per share.
National Tubes featured a turnover of Tk 185.40 million and captured 3.8 per cent of the market turnover. The company's share trading closed at Tk 140.70 with a rise of 4.12 per cent on Sunday.
City Bank posted a turnover of Tk 167.1 million which was 3.4 per cent of the turnover featured by the DSE. The company's share price declined 2.33 per cent to close at Tk 50.40.
Lafarge Surma Cement captured 3.0 per cent of the market turnover after featuring a value of Tk 143.90 million. The company's share trading closed at Tk 67.40 with a loss of 2.46 per cent on Sunday.
Among other turnover leaders, Beximco featured a turnover of Tk 140.70 million followed by Paramount Textile Tk 131 million, Dragon Sweater and Spinning Tk 105 million, Western Marine Shipyard Tk 95.1 million and BBS Cables Tk 94.9 million.
The companies' contribution in market turnover ranged between 2.0 per cent and 2.9 per cent.
