Universities can play vital role in grooming future generation: President

President Iajuddin Ahmed has said universities, as the centres of freethinking and unique home of wisdom, can play a pivotal role in flourishing human values and grooming the future generation with updated knowledge, reports UNB.
Iajuddin Ahmed made the observation while speaking at the first convocation of the University of Development Alternatives (UODA) at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city Monday.
Former president of Kobe Gakuin University in Japan Professor Hiroyuki Taniguchi attended the programme as the convocation speaker while UODA Vice Chancellor Emajuddin Ahamed was present at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, chancellor of the university Iajuddin Ahmed said: "I hope all universities will play its due role in building a caring and enlightened society."
The President greeted the graduating students and faculties, and appreciated the guardians and dedicated teachers for their diligent efforts and relentless support to the students.
He expressed satisfaction as UODA is offering degrees in various courses, ranging from Business Administration to Music and Fine Arts.
The President said education is the main instrument to build up knowledge-based human resources that would lead the nation towards development. "We should give more emphasis on quality education from primary to higher level so that a knowledge-based society can be developed," he added.
