Unrest, uncertainty and despair

Wednesday, 7 January 2015

We, the common people, cannot but be worried about our future, as day by day political uncertainty is looming large. Hartal, blockade and continuous political unrest are becoming routine. The last national election is costing us dearly and it has completely isolated the ruling party from common masses.
I think the civil society should put pressure on the political leaders so that they resolve their differences across the table and do not harm peace and progress.  When the world is moving forward we are fighting among ourselves and wasting valuable time.  Bangladesh has a lot of potential, but unfortunately we are lagging behind due to political squabbles even after 43 years of independence. We need to protect the rights of the citizens and establish good governance. But looking at our politics of vengeance, one finds it difficult to be an optimist.
