UP chairman candidate dies of heart attack

JOYPURHAT, May 22: Abul Hasnat Mondol, a chairman candidate and ex-chairman of Mohammadabad Union Parishad under Joypurhat Sadar Upazila died of heart attack Saturday morning at his house in the district. Hasnat was ex-vice president of district Jatiya Party committee. Abul Hasnat, an elderly politician was a candidate for chairman in Mohammadabad Union Parishad. He suddenly became ill and died at his house. In another incident, a farmer of Uttar Mohespur (Shalukdugi) village was killed by lightning while harvesting Boro paddy Saturday morning. He was identified as Nur Mohammad (28), son of Abu Bakkar Siddik of village Uttar Mohespur Shalukdugi under Khetlal upazila in Joypurhat district. Meet on tobacco control held Another report adds : An advocacy meeting on tobacco control organised by district sivil surgeon and local NGO Development Council was held at Joypurhat DC conference room Sunday. Dr. Mozammel Haque, Sivil Surgeon of Joypurhat presided over the meeting while Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Bishwas spoke as a chief guest. Among others Joypurhat Paura Mayor Abdul Aziz Molla and district women affair officer Mamotaj Mahol spoke at the meeting. The participants emphasized on the control of tobacco use in the district.
