UP chairman killed in Chuadanga road mishap

CHUADANGA, Apr 11 (UNB): A Union Parishad chairman and local BNP leader was killed and his co-rider injured as a power tiller smashed their motorcycle at Nandobar in Alamdanga Upazila Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Atiar Rahman (40), chairman of Gangni Union Parishad, also union BNP president, and resident of Hatikata village in the upazila.
The police said the power tiller rammed into the bike on the Chuadanga-Meherpur Road at 9:00pm while Atiar along with another BNP leader Ainal, of Musainagar village in the upazila, were returning home from the district town, leaving them critically injured.
The injured were rushed to the Sadar Hospital where the attending doctors declared Atiar dead.
The police seized the power tiller, but its driver managed to flee the scene.
